Cape Barron Geese are very common in Phillip Island, they are very large pale grey goose, with a relatively small head. It is found around the island in areas of pasture, tussock grass. This bird monogamous and pair-bonds are life long. The female incubates the eggs and the young are brooded by both parents equally.
In the 50’s it was feared that it would become extinct, after a number of measures this is no longer the case. However they remain one of the world’s rarest geese.
