Cowes Cemetery is a very beautiful location and has been around since 1870. The Trust can help you find your ancestors or even to know more about the history.

Cowes Cemetery hosts many visitors to Phillip Island who are surprised by the beauty and natural tranquillity of our historic mid 19th century cemetery, nestled on the hill with magnificent glimpses of Western port and beyond.

The Phillip Island Cemetery Trust is a public entity, which manages the Cemetery under the guidelines as issued by the Dept. Human Services.

The Objectives of the Phillip Island Cemetery Trust are:

To honour and preserve the past
To maintain and enhance the present
And to plan and provide for the future

All positions on the Trust are voluntary. All our Phillip Island Cemetery Trust members get involved with hands-on maintenance work in the cemetery. We try to co-ordinate this on a Friday, when our paid gardener works there, however it is not unusual to see a number of Trust members working at the cemetery throughout the week, on tractors and other machinery.

We would welcome all new comers to the Trust.
